Hazlewood Castle has been in the family estate of Vavasours since Norman times and was first mentioned in 1086 in the Domesday Book. It remained in the family for nine hundred years.
The Great Hall
This spectacular, South-facing room, overlooking the stunning view of Towton Moor, is Medieval at its boldest with classical inspiration. Great columns, a marble fireplace, alcoves framing large statues and a high ceiling where oval medallions decorated with over fifty coats of armour encircle the room; all this makes for a day in history with your event in the Great Hall.
The Old Dining Room
East of the Great Hall, the immense natural daylight, exquisite fireplace and Adam's work frieze and ceiling dominate this room. The elegance
of the Old Dining Room enhances any private dining events, board
meetingsand even civil ceremonies.
Built in 1286, St Leonard's Chapel is situated to the East of the Castle,
complete with a Palladian altar piece, fine fretwork and glass decorated with
symbols of passion. The chapel offers an ambience conducive to larger theatre
style seminars with excellent acoustics and a gallery, also your perfect setting for
musical concerts.
The Flemish Hall
Real oak doors make for a magnificent entrance with Belgian marble floor tiles
leading into the hall filled with handcarved panelling, a magnificent fireplace
engraved with scenes from Jerusalem and an ornate ceiling of armorial motifs.
The Flemish Hall is your perfect reception area.
The Courtyard
On a clear, warm day mingling in our beautiful courtyard with family and friends
whilst sipping from a cool glass of Pimms is highly recommended. Our staff will
follow your guests with trays of drinks and canapés, whether it be inside the
Flemish Hall or outside in the Courtyard.
