Our management Trainee Programme is all about thoroughly training you in the key areas of hotel keeping. We believe in the 'hands on' philosophy right through our management teams. We are practical in our approach and like to keep it simple, so that we can spend more time with our guests.

Our management trainee programme is aimed at hospitality and leisure college leavers/ NVQ students/ apprentices for our two year / 18 month programme, as well as hotel and catering business students/OND/HND and degree students for 18/12 month programme.

However, both these programmes are available to those individuals who, whilst not having formal related qualifications, are interested in assistant and general management and learning every aspect of hotel keeping. Our programme is available to students from both the UK and overseas.

The programme is divided into the following areas and generally for the period specified, and in most cases will take place across two hotels which are specialists in particular areas-

• Housekeeping (1 month)
• Restaurant (3 months)
• Conference & Banqueting (3 months)
• Bars (3 months)
• Kitchen (3/4 months)
• Reception (3/5 months)

Within each area, you will be paired with a mentor whose responsibility it will be to help guide you in the department.

In order to complete each section, a short report will be required which will be based on a specific area within the department. Six monthly reviews of progress will also take place.

A comprehensive induction will ensure that you are familiar with each hotels regulations, including fire, food safety, manual handling and all other regulations.

Live in accommodation will be provided if required for the duration of the programme. Your salary will £12,000- £14,000 per annum, dependant on qualifications and experience, which will include accommodation and meals (an amendment will made if living out) and a uniform will be provided. Due to the nature of the business, you should expect to work at weekends, with time off during the week.

After successful completion of the programme, you will be offered a position as an assistant manager at one of our hotels.

Hazlewood Castle hosts many weddings, dinners, and conferences throughout the year, therefore we are looking for enthusiastic waiting staff and bar staff to work throughout the week and weekend working a combination of early and late shifts.

Vacancies are within the events/banqueting and restaurant so shifts can be varied.

We are currently recruiting Housekeepers to join our fantastic team.

As a housekeeper, you will take responsibility for ensuring that the rooms are cleaned to our high standard and ready by the check-in time. Attention to detail is a must. If you are self-motivated and organised, with a passion for cleaning, this is the job for you. You will also be responsible for cleaning the public areas prior to check out.

Previous experience as a housekeeper is preferred, but not essential as full training will be given.

The ideal candidate should be flexible working shifts over a 7 day period which includes weekends.

Hazlewood Castle is recruiting a banqueting manager to oversee the events and banqueting department. We offer weddings and events in the castle but also in our new woodland venue.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

To run events from start to finish, managing a team of casual staff efficiently and effectively
To maintain a high level of presence throughout the day to ensure a smooth operation
To meet clients before and during the event to ensure total satisfaction
To remedy any operational issues that may arise on the day
To complete requisitions and other management tasks
To ensure all vacated rooms are cleaned and set up as required pre and post events
To ensure that the department is closed correctly and securely
To support in taking responsibility for Health and Safety within the Banqueting department, ensuring all company guidelines and standards are achieved
To be responsible for the training of new members to the team to the correct standard and to monitor this in a training record
To be responsible for the management of floats, cashing up and balancing after an event
To ensure that staff are motivated, developed and made aware of promotional opportunities.

The shifts would usually be 6.30 am - 3 pm on mixed days throughout the week based on business needs.

40 hours per week

Hazlewood Castle is looking for a friendly, welcoming & enthusiastic Night Porter to join our team.

Your main duties will include maintaining the cleanliness of the hotel whilst making sure the hotel is secure during the night. Being able to stay self-motivated when working alone and dealing with any needs & concerns for our guests to ensure they have everything they need.

Other duties include:

Check-in and out of guests
Serving drinks on the bar
Setting up conference rooms to a high standard
Deal with guest requests to the best of your ability
Ensure that the hotel is secure at all times by completing security checks throughout the night
Keeping the public areas clean and tidy
Ensure meeting rooms are ready for the next day's business
The ideal applicant must be completely trustworthy, presentable, have high standards in all that is done and a team player.

Previous night working experience ideally within a hotel environment is preferred but not essential. An outgoing personality and excellent communication skills are essential. The working hours are predominantly 11:00 pm to 7:00 am Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights, with the possibility to extend. Must have the flexibility to cover holidays and staff sickness.

Due to location own transport is essential.

This demanding role includes catering for our banqueting suites, marquee, and woodland venue. The successful applicant will have previous experience in the preparation, cooking, and delivery of weddings and events to a high standard.

The role will also include the maintaining of kitchen health and safety procedures, ordering, training of new chefs and also helping in the restaurant kitchen when required.

Salary is negotiable depending on experience.
